Section setup tasks in your Feed

What these cards are

Onboarding a section is not the intro carousel; it is the next step, and the one after that, surfaced where you already work. So every section you have switched on that is still learning your business keeps exactly one setup card in your Feed, titled for its current next step in the operator-onboards-IQ voice: Show IQ your P&L, Teach IQ your renewals, Show IQ a sub's coverage, Invite your crew. The card's body says what completing the step switches on, and its recommendation line carries the ask in plain terms, like "Add a profit and loss export."

These are ordinary cards in every way that matters: they render in the Feed and in your decisions workspace like anything else, and they use the same act, park, and dismiss controls. Acting on one takes you to the place that closes the step, usually the section's own page, where the Get IQ Up To Speed row and its Add buttons are waiting. For a section fed from somewhere else, the card points at the feeder instead: Forecasting's task sends you to Jobs, because that is where its history comes from.

The card advances by itself

Each section holds one card, never a pile. When you complete the current step, whether from the card, from the section page, or just because the right document arrived through your inbox or a connected tool, the card does not resolve and spawn a successor. The same card advances in place: its title becomes the next step, its body becomes the next payoff. On Margin, "Tell IQ your size" becomes "Show IQ your P&L" becomes "Show IQ your job costs," one card the whole way.

When the section is fully up to speed, the card resolves itself. There is nothing to check off and no "setup complete" card left behind to dismiss; it simply leaves your Feed, the same way the progress row retires from the section home.

And it comes back if something reopens. The card watches what IQ actually knows, so if the data behind a completed step goes away later, say a sub drops off your bench and your roster thins below where it was, or a record behind a step is removed, the settled card returns with the step that needs attention. Setup is a living state, not a one-time checklist.

Two things never generate a card here. Dormant sections, ones you have not switched on, stay silent; the platform suggests a section before it ever tasks you with one. And network comparisons, the peer reads that appear as more operators contribute, are never tasks, because there is nothing you could do to close them.

Not the same as the 90-day intake cards

Your Feed carries a second, older family of setup cards: the 90-day account intake program, covered in onboarding and setup cards in the feed. The two look related and are easy to tell apart once you know the tells:

• Scope. An intake card belongs to your account as a whole: one program, six stages, 28 milestones, walked in a fixed order from the easiest asks to the deepest. A section setup card belongs to one section, and there can be one per active section at a time, each climbing its own short list of steps.
• The progress marker. Every intake card carries the slim Account Setup completeness bar with its fraction out of 28. Section setup cards carry no bar; their count lives in the section's own Get IQ Up To Speed row.
• The title. Intake cards are named for milestones ("Forward 3 software subscription invoices"). Section cards are named for teaching your new hire ("Show IQ your stack"), and the title changes in place as you climb.
• How they end. An intake card settles and the next milestone takes its slot. A section card advances in place and then resolves itself for good when the section is up to speed.

The two overlap on purpose in one respect: many artifacts count for both. The P&L that closes a Stage 6 intake milestone is the same P&L that completes Margin's step, so handing IQ one document can quietly settle a card in each family at once.

Where to find them

Both families live in the ordinary Feed at iq.verinode.ai/feed, mixed with your decisions and briefing content; section setup cards also appear in your decisions workspace. There is no separate onboarding tab, deliberately: setup is treated as work worth doing this week, in the same stream as everything else worth doing this week.
