What this row shows
The Working with IQ row is the third row of tiles on the Impact page. Where the Decisions row above it tells you what IQ found and what you did about it, this row tells you how much you actually leaned on IQ to get there: how many times you asked it something, how many Intelligence Units that work consumed, how many documents landed in your vault, how many surveys went out and came back, and how many minutes you spent active in the app. None of these five tiles carry a dollar figure. They describe effort and usage, not recovered value, which is what the Decisions and Dollars tabs are for.
Where to find it
Open Impact from the sidebar at iq.verinode.ai/impact. Scroll past the hero panel, the Goals row, and the Decisions row, the Working with IQ row is the fifth section down, labeled Working with IQ, with five tiles laid out left to right:
IQ Commands · IUs Spent · Documents Added · Surveys · Time With IQ
Every tile is a click target. Clicking any one of them opens the same destination: the Engagement tab of the Impact card slider, one of five tabs across the top (Goals, Decisions, Dollars, Engagement, Activity). It does not matter which of the five tiles you click, all five open Engagement, because the tab shows all five numbers together rather than drilling into one at a time.
A window picker in the top-right corner of the page (This month, Last 30 days, Year to date, All time) scopes every number in this row to the period you pick. This month is the default. See Choosing a time window on Impact for exactly how each window is computed and how switching windows preserves an open slider tab.
The five tiles, one by one
IQ Commands
What it counts. Conversations you started with IQ inside the window, the tile's sub-label reads "Conversations you started." This counts only conversations you initiated yourself. IQ starting a conversation on its own (for example, a proactive alert or a check-in it opens without you asking) does not count here, only turns where you were the one who opened the exchange.
Empty state. When the count is zero, the tile reads "Ask IQ anything" instead of a sub-label.
IUs Spent
What it counts. Intelligence Units consumed by IQ work in the window, the tile's sub-label reads "Intelligence Units consumed." IUs are Verinode's unit for the capacity IQ spends on your behalf, research, analysis, drafting, and the deeper work behind a decision or a document read. Only consumption counts here: IUs added back to your balance (a top-up, a monthly refresh) never reduce this number, so it always reads as gross spend for the window, not your remaining balance.
Empty state. When the count is zero, the tile reads "Spend IUs on IQ work" instead of a sub-label.
Documents Added
What it counts. Documents added to your vault in the window, the tile's sub-label reads "To your vault" when the count is above zero. This counts documents that flowed in from your own uploads, forwarded emails, or a connected tool, not IQ's own internal traces. A chat turn or an internal query IQ ran on your behalf does not count as a document you added, even though both live in the same underlying data path; the count reflects what you actually contributed, not IQ's bookkeeping.
Empty state. When the count is zero, the tile reads "Drop in a document" instead of a sub-label.
Surveys
What it counts. Surveys sent in the window, shown as the headline number, with responses received shown in the sub-label as "N responded" once at least one survey has gone out. A survey and its responses can straddle a window boundary: a survey sent last month that gets a response this month will show that response under this month's "N responded" figure, and under last month's sent figure, since sent and responded are each counted by their own timestamp.
Empty state. When no surveys have been sent, the tile reads "Send a survey from Forms" instead of a response count.
Time With IQ
What it counts. Active minutes in the app during the window, the tile's sub-label reads "Active in the app." Minutes format as Nm under an hour (for example "45m"), and as Nh or Nh Nm above an hour (for example "2h" or "2h 15m"). This is time actively working in Verinode, not a proxy for value delivered, a long session doesn't necessarily mean more got done than a short, focused one.
Empty state. When the count is zero, the value itself reads a plain dash (", ") rather than "0m," and the sub-label reads a dash as well.
Note
"Nothing yet" on any of these five tiles is not a broken page. It means nothing in that category has flowed in during the selected window. A quiet This month can look very different under Year to date, especially if you asked IQ a lot of questions early on and have settled into a steadier rhythm since.
The Engagement tab
Clicking any tile in the Working with IQ row opens the Engagement tab of the Impact slider. It leads with a plain sentence: "How you worked with IQ [window label]," for example "How you worked with IQ this month." Below that, the same five numbers appear again as a list, one row per metric, each with its label, a sub-line, and the value in bold on the right:
- IQ Commands: "Conversations you started with IQ"
- IUs Spent: "Intelligence Units consumed"
- Documents Added: a line noting it feeds your vault, which in turn feeds future signals
- Surveys Sent: "N responded"
- Time With IQ: "Active minutes in the app"
There is nothing to drill into further from here: Engagement is a read-only summary tab, unlike Decisions, Dollars, and Activity, which let you click into an individual row for more detail. If you want the underlying list behind a number, for example which documents were added or which conversations you had, look to The Feed for conversations and decisions, or the vault itself for documents.
Best-practice example
Say the Working with IQ row this month reads IQ Commands: 14, IUs Spent: 2,340, Documents Added: 6, Surveys: 3 sent with "2 responded," and Time With IQ: "1h 40m." Read across, not down: 14 conversations and 1h 40m of active time is a meaningfully engaged month, and the 6 documents added are what will keep fueling next month's signals. The one thing worth a second look is Surveys: 3 sent with only 2 responded means one survey is still open, worth a nudge if it matters to you. None of these five numbers say anything about whether the work paid off financially, for that, open the Decisions and Dollars tabs from the same page and read the acted count and the Hard Recoverable figure alongside this row.
