What the window picker does
Every number on the Impact page (/impact, Impact in the sidebar) is measured over a period. The window picker in the top-right of the page header is what sets that period. It is four plain-text links, sitting beside the "Impact" title: This month, Last 30 days, Year to date, All time. Click one and the whole page re-reads itself for that window, the hero number, the Goals tiles, the Decisions row, the Working with IQ row, and the Activity feed underneath all recompute together. Nothing on the page is exempt.
The active window is shown with a filled copper pill; the others sit as plain muted text. Clicking a window updates the page's URL (/impact?window=this_month, ?window=last_30d, ?window=ytd, ?window=all_time) so the choice is a real link, not a client-only toggle. You can bookmark a window, share the link, or use your browser's back button to step between windows.
How each window is computed
- This month (the default). The first day of the current calendar month, midnight, through the first day of next month. If today is any day in July, this window is all of July, month-to-date through right now.
- Last 30 days. A rolling window: exactly 30 days back from this moment through now. Unlike This month, it does not reset on the 1st, it always covers the trailing 30 days regardless of where you are in the calendar month.
- Year to date. January 1 of the current calendar year, midnight, through now.
- All time. Every record Verinode has for your account, from account start through now.
All four windows end at the current moment, so every window is always "up to right now," not a frozen historical slice. Switching windows does not lose your place: if you have a slider tab open (say, Decisions filtered to Acted), the window switch preserves it. That is covered below.
What "scopes every number" means, concretely
The window is not a display filter layered on top of pre-computed totals. It changes the underlying query for each section of the page:
- Hero panel. The headline "Decisions Acted" count, the eyebrow line ("Decisions Acted · This month" or whichever window is active), the Hard Recoverable dollar figure, and the Soft Conditional dollar figure are all counted only from decisions acted inside the window. Hard Recoverable and Soft Conditional are two separate numbers and are never added together, one is money IQ has helped you realize, the other is money still in play, not yet realized. If nothing has been realized in the window, Hard Recoverable reads "Nothing Realized Yet"; if nothing is conditional, Soft Conditional reads "Nothing Conditional."
- Decisions row. Surfaced, Acted, Parked, and Ignored each count signals whose lifecycle event, first detected, actioned, parked, or ignored, landed inside the window. A signal that IQ surfaced two months ago but you acted on this week counts as Acted this month and does not appear as Surfaced this month; it would only show as Surfaced if you switch to a window wide enough to include the original detection date. The Acted tile's "N% action rate" is acted divided by surfaced, both measured in the same window.
- Working with IQ row. IQ Commands (conversations you started with IQ), IUs Spent (Intelligence Units consumed), Documents Added (to your vault), Surveys (sent and responded), and Time With IQ (active minutes in the app) are each counted only for activity that happened inside the window.
- Activity feed (below the tile rows). Every row in the feed, uploads, decisions acted, parked or ignored, IQ conversations, surveys sent, memberships added, is filtered to the window. Switching to All time surfaces your full history; switching back to This month narrows it back down.
- The slider tabs (Decisions, Dollars, Engagement, Activity, Goals) that open when you click a tile read from the same windowed data as the tiles that opened them.
The one exception is Goals: goal targets and progress track toward a target you set, not a rolling window total, so the Goals row does not change shape when you switch windows. Its tiles (an active goal, a "Set this goal" suggestion, or the "Set a Goal" / "All set" browse tile) reflect your goal state regardless of which window is selected.
Empty states you may see per window
Verinode never fakes activity to fill a window. If a window genuinely has nothing in it, you will see plain, honest copy rather than a blank layout:
- Hero sub-text. With no signals surfaced in the window, the sub-text drops the count line and reads a plain utilization message, for example "IQ has more to offer than you are using right now." (This message changes with how much you have engaged with IQ recently: "IQ is working hard for your business this period," "IQ is showing its value. There is room to do more," or the underutilized line above.)
- Surfaced tile. "Nothing yet in this window" when no signals surfaced.
- Acted tile. "Nothing to act on yet" when nothing has been surfaced.
- Parked tile. "Nothing parked."
- Ignored tile. "Nothing ignored."
- Engagement tiles. Each has its own idle prompt: "Ask IQ anything" (Commands), "Spend IUs on IQ work" (IUs), "Drop in a document" (Documents), "Send a survey from Forms" (Surveys), and a plain dash for Time With IQ when no minutes are logged.
- Activity feed. "Nothing yet in this window. Upload a document, ask IQ a question, or act on a decision to start the timeline."
A narrower window (This month, Last 30 days) is the most likely place to see these, especially early in a billing month or shortly after connecting your data. Widening to Year to date or All time will surface anything that has accumulated outside the narrow window. An empty window is not a broken page, it means nothing in that slice of time has flowed in yet.
How it preserves your open slider tab
Clicking a tile on Impact (Surfaced, Acted, an engagement tile, a goal tile) opens a full-height slider on top of the page with tabs: Goals, Decisions, Dollars, Engagement, Activity. The slider records its own state in the URL too, ?tab=decisions and, for the Decisions tab specifically, ?status=acted (or parked, ignored, all) when you opened it pre-filtered.
Because the window picker's links are built by taking the current URL's tab and status and re-adding them alongside the new window value, switching windows while a slider tab is open does not close the slider or reset it back to the home grid. You stay on the same tab, with the same status filter if one was set, and only the underlying data changes to match the new window. This means you can, for instance, open Decisions filtered to Acted, then flip from This month to Year to date, and immediately see the full-year list of acted decisions in the same filtered view, without re-opening anything.
Note
"All time" is a genuinely unbounded window. On an account with a long history, the Activity feed and Decisions lists can get long. The tile previews cap at what fits (the Activity feed preview shows the 10 most recent events with a "View all N" link into the full list), so switching to All time is safe to use even on a mature account.
Heads up
The window only changes what is measured. It does not change how a decision is graded, what counts as hard recoverable versus soft conditional is a property of the decision itself (per Verinode's impact value discipline: only genuinely realized, hard-recoverable dollars are ever shown as Hard Recoverable), not something that shifts because you widened or narrowed the date range.
Step by step: reading Impact correctly for a given period
- 1Open Impact from the sidebar (
/impact). - 2Look at the four links beside the page title and pick the period you actually want to reason about: This month for the current billing cycle, Last 30 days for a rolling recent view, Year to date for the year so far, or All time for your full history with IQ.
- 3Read the hero panel first: acted decisions, Hard Recoverable dollars, Soft Conditional dollars, all scoped to that window.
- 4Scroll into the Decisions row and the Working with IQ row for the same period's detail.
- 5Click any tile to drill into its slider tab for the underlying list, still scoped to your chosen window.
- 6Switch windows at any point, home or inside a slider tab, and the page re-reads without losing your place.
