What Industry News is
Industry News is a single, always-on feed of outside content for restoration leadership: Verinode's own research, syndicated industry articles, podcasts, vendor moves, equipment launches, and other franchise-relevant coverage. It lives on the HQ side of the platform as its own page, not folded into a dashboard tile or buried in a settings tray.
Two things set it apart from Benchmarks and Network, HQ's other daily-driver pages: it carries none of your network's own operating numbers, and it is not personalized to your network at all. Every item on this page comes from outside the platform, a publisher, a vendor announcement, Verinode's own research desk, rather than from anything your offices submitted, reported, or ran through their own books. See "Why this feed is network-curated, not personalized" below for what that means in practice.
Where to find it
Open Industry News directly at hq.verinode.ai/news. This is a standalone page, separate from the Industry News tab that lives inside Benchmarks (see Benchmarks section overview). Both draw on the same underlying content stream, so the same items often show up in both places, but this page is the fuller, dedicated view: it has its own Featured section and five filter chips, where the Benchmarks tab is a condensed version sitting alongside HQ's other league tables.
Note
This page carries zero franchisee-derived numbers. It is not a benchmark, a ranking, or a rollup of your offices' data. It is the same kind of outside reading list a restoration industry analyst would keep, laid out for your network's leadership.
Reading the page
At the top, the page shows one heading: "Industry News." Underneath, once the feed has items in it, is a one-line summary that reads, for example: "82 items · 6 featured · 0 vendor · Verinode research, industry articles, podcasts, vendor moves, and equipment launches." The three numbers update live with whatever is actually in the feed and with whichever chip you have selected below; the sentence describing the feed's contents is fixed and always appears.
The Featured section
When the All chip is selected (the default), any item currently flagged as time-sensitive is pulled out into its own row at the top, under a small copper-colored heading that reads Featured. Featured cards get a thin copper ring around the card border so they stand out from the rest of the grid. Everything else drops into a second group underneath, headed Latest, in a wider grid. If nothing is currently flagged as Featured, the Latest heading disappears too and the page just shows one plain grid.
An item stays in Featured only for the window it was flagged for. Once that window closes, it drops out of Featured and, if it's still recent enough to belong in the regular list, reappears there instead under Latest.
Switching to any other chip (Featured, Vendor, Industry, or Verinode) collapses this split: you get one single grid of whatever matches that filter, with no Featured/Latest grouping.
Filtering the feed
Under the heading sits a row of pill-shaped filter chips, each with a live count next to its label:
- All: every item currently in the feed. Always shown, even when the count is zero.
- Featured: only the time-sensitive items described above.
- Vendor: items about vendor moves and product launches.
- Industry: everything that isn't a vendor or product item, meaning the general run of articles, podcasts, and research.
- Verinode: items Verinode itself authored or published, rather than syndicated from an outside publisher.
A chip other than All only appears once there is at least one item behind it. If your network's feed currently has no vendor-tagged items, for instance, the Vendor chip simply isn't shown that day. Tap a chip to switch the whole page to that slice; tap All to go back to the full list with its Featured/Latest split.
Reading a card
Each item in the grid is one card. If the item has a cover image, the image fills the top of the card at a wide, video-like aspect ratio, with a small rounded label in the top-left corner naming the item's kind. If there's no image, that same kind label sits above the title instead. The kind label reads one of: Article, Video, Podcast, Press release, Webinar, or Franchisee post.
Below that: the item's title in bold, then a short summary clipped to three lines when one is available. At the bottom of the card, a footer row shows the publisher's name on the left (a clean, readable name, not a raw feed identifier, or a placeholder dash if none is on file) and, on the right, how long ago it was published: Today for anything in the last 24 hours, then 1d ago through 6d ago, then 1w ago through 4w ago, and 1mo ago and up after that.
Click anywhere on a card to open it.
Opening an article
Clicking a card opens a full reading panel over the page, titled with the item's own headline. Inside:
- The cover image, if the item has one, sized to fill the top of the panel.
- A row of small meta chips: the kind label (Article, Video, Podcast, Press release, Webinar, or Franchisee post), a copper Verinode research chip when Verinode itself is the source, an amber Featured chip when the item is currently flagged time-sensitive, the publisher's name, the publish date written out in full (for example, "Jul 14, 2026"), and, for video or audio, its running time (for example, "12 min" or "12:34").
- The summary, as plain readable text.
- An Article body section with the full text of the piece. Formatting is currently plain text rather than fully styled markdown, so long-form pieces read as unbroken paragraphs for now.
- A Watch / Listen section with an embedded player, for items that carry a video or audio recording.
- A Tags row of small pills, when the item has any topic or role tags attached.
- A closing line: "Open the full piece at the original source," with a View at [Publisher] → button that opens the original article, video, or podcast in a new tab. This only appears when the item has a source link on file.
Close the panel to return to the grid exactly where you left it, including whichever filter chip was active.
Why this feed is network-curated, not personalized
Unlike the feed an individual operator sees inside their own platform, Industry News on HQ carries no "relevant to me" filter and no per-office lens. There is no control anywhere on this page that narrows the list to a specific office, a specific region, or a specific vendor stack. Every HQ user looking at this page sees the exact same list of items, in the exact same order, no matter which offices sit in their network or what those offices individually run.
That is deliberate, and it follows the same line the rest of the platform holds everywhere else: your member offices own their own operating data, including which vendors they use and how they run their business, and HQ never sees that at the individual-office level, only aggregates and compliance. Personalizing this feed to "what your network's offices are running" would mean building a view of each office's private stack, which is exactly the line this platform doesn't cross. So instead, every network gets the same industry-wide read: the identical content stream every operator, and every other HQ network on the platform, is reading from. Nothing about your own offices, no operator's jobs, margin, ratings, or vendor spend, is ever used to select or rank what shows up here.
Verinode surfaces the content; deciding what to do with any of it, share it with your offices, act on a vendor move, follow up on a research finding, stays with your leadership team.
- 1Open Industry News at hq.verinode.ai/news.
- 2Scan the Featured row first, if one is showing, for whatever is currently flagged time-sensitive.
- 3Use the filter chips (Vendor, Industry, Verinode) to narrow the list if you're after a specific kind of coverage.
- 4Click any card to open the full reading panel, read the summary and body, or watch/listen inline.
- 5Use View at [Publisher] → inside the panel if you want to read or watch the original piece at its source.
Empty states
- No items in the feed at all. The page shows just the "Industry News" heading and its fixed description, then: "No items in the feed yet. New articles will appear here as the upstream content scraper publishes them." No filter chips or grid render until at least one item exists.
- A filter chip matches nothing. This can only happen on a chip other than All (a chip with zero items behind it doesn't render in the first place, so you'd only see this if the feed changed while the panel was open). The page reads: "No items match this filter yet."
What this is not
Industry News is not a benchmark and it is not a ranking. It doesn't compare your network's offices to each other or to the industry; that comparison lives on Benchmarks. It carries none of your offices' financials, jobs, ratings, or vendor spend, and none of that data is ever used to choose, order, or personalize what appears here. It is also not the same page as the Industry News tab inside Benchmarks: the two share a content stream, but this is the standalone, full-featured view.
